Barley Bay brings together creativity in the form of gorgeous fresh high quality contemporary art greetings cards from Textile Artist & photographer and graphic artist duo the Huttons. Designs are currently textile and photography/graphics based.

We thought it would be fun to set up this blog to run aside our business website and the periodic Twitter feed. We spend much of our time in the countryside where we live and towns and cities too, we always have an eye for art galleries and shows and love quality artisan products (usually more ‘art’ than food). Much of this folds back into our work, so basically we are going to try and reflect this alongside news of our work in progress etc and goodness knows what else besides. So hopefully it wont just be about greeting cards!
So who are we?
Myra has had a lifelong passion for textile art and from her own practice has pieces all over Europe, to America, Canada, Japan, Australia & New Zealand from award-winning felt and stitch landscape to dye-and-stitch imagery. This was the starting point for Barley Bay when they were translated into rich and graphic greetings cards. Myra is a Fellow of the UK’s National Centre for Craft & Design ( http://www.nationalcraftanddesign.org.uk ) Myra has also devoted a lot of time to instigating and curating high quality local and regional art and craft shows under different banners. Trevors’ work is photography and digital media based and, with a long career in the IT world whilst watching and helping Myras’ creative world from the side lines he now has the chance to exploit his own creativity through use of his beloved cameras and computers! “Whenever we are out and about we constantly seek out and soak up the world around us, each taking our observations and images back to the studio to work on. Our ideas are both independent and entwined, we can work on pieces side by side and in collaboration. ”
Our home and studio life is enhanced by a young Cocker Spaniel Rollo, who makes sure we get some fresh air throughout the day.
